Magyarítások Portál was formed in the beginning of 2003 by András Iványi (alias Andy) and Péter Panyiczky (alias Panyi) with one main purpose: to collect all gamer-made translations for video games that were not localized offically to one place on the Internet.
Before 2003 our page existed only for the translation of Baldur's Gate 2, so only a few other game localizations were avaible to download. Soon the example of Portál inspired quite a few people to create hobby translation, so the number of these unoffical language patches rose steadily. With the growing number of projects more and more people became interested in our humble hobby, consequently our small community started to flouris. Now more than ten thousand visitors check our page regularly. The translation of such games as Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic 1-2, Icewind Dale 1-2 or Warcraft 3 had their fair shares on the page's success.
We wanted to show the local distributors that Hungarian gamers do need games on their mother tongue. A few years after the start - in the end of 2006 - our small team was requested to make the offical translation of Gothic 3. We accepted it gladly, and this became the beginning of a new era - from then Magyarítások Portál makes offical and unoffical game translations in the same time. Luckily the Hungarian distributors realised that the localization of games is necessary, not only in the manuals and on the boxes, but also in the games itselfs. We believe that we had a lot to do with this realisation.
This page was made for everyone who wishes to know more about our team. Here you can see the list of our game translations since our existence, and learn about the members of the team personally.
We encourage everyone to contact us about the translations.
